I love to read psychological thrillers and this was really good, almost perfect, holding in high tension and uncertainty. Antoinette van Heugten in his debut novel takes on autism, where the same for several years was very interested in supporting the centers for the very children who are affected by this disease. And her longtime career as a law, causes that, this book seems even more real, true.
Expecting a baby we wonder whether it's a boy or a girl, to whom he would like, who will inherit the character. However, always important for us is that the baby was born healthy. Danielle Parkman, did not have the same luck, gave birth to a son with Aspargera syndrome, manifesting as impaired social skills and difficulty in accepting changes. But for her son, it was the greatest happiness, was perfect in every way. The difficulties began to appear only when Max entered puberty, he became emotionally unbalanced, and began to have suicidal thoughts. Danielle knew that this time can not help itself, and must go for help to the Psychiatric Hospital, "Maitland" to there again diagnosed her son, and matched him with adequate medication. But nothing goes as it should.
This will be a brief observation, and Danielle, believed that her son will return home. But this short stay was only a prelude to a nightmare, which we had to survive her mother and her child. Max at each visit Danielle said how bad he feels, that means that he give it completely otumaniajÄ… that agitates him in the head and he does not know if that was not crazy. However, doctors say "Aggressive tendencies threaten the patient himself and the environment. The patient is experiencing severe anxiety. Hallucination auditory, visual and tactile information. Still remains a real threat of suicide. Diagnosis: schizoaffective disorder, psychosis ... "
Danielle could not believe it all, yet knows his own son and I never noticed these symptoms in him (or them chased subconsciously?). Why doctors are wrong, maybe this new medication, causing him these strange disorders, and perhaps ... But this is only the beginning of a nightmare, because soon, Danielle Max is bloodied and zamroczonego brutally murdered right next to the patient. Do you believe in the innocence of a son, or as everyone considers him a murderer?
Antoinette van Heugten created a very real psychological thriller, which from the outset draws us into a vortex of events, revealing to us what time is the new corners of the human mind. He shows us the lives of children affected and not radzÄ…cych himself in everyday life. As for me, a very interesting topic, but worth trying on this web page. But the author does not focus only on the disease, showing us the moral issues, medical ethics, or the limit of human endurance.
How much can a mother do to help her child?, Does intuition, which is headed for sure is good? And doctors, are you sure, each of them, cares for the welfare of the patient, and do everything to help him?
These and other questions, you will find the answer in the book, in which the characters are great characters wykreowanymi by the author, the book in which there is no action, and which to the last page, the last paragraph, he keeps the suspense high.
me this novel has provided many exciting moments, a lot of experience. This is certainly a book that long I will not forget.
